Te Ohu Kaimoana is a charitable trust created to advance the interests of iwi in fishing, fisheries-related activities and aquaculture. We are structured to ensure that the Fisheries and Aquaculture Settlements are robust for future generations of Māori. Te Ohu Kaimoana works with 58 iwi organisations and industry leaders to enable and support our people to have a thriving relationship with Tangaroa.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About the role
Reporting to the Kūrae Moana (Manager Oceans) as a Ringa Rehe Whakatewha (Senior Analyst), you will be based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, and be part of an engaged and passionate rōpū that looks to advance the interests of iwi in their reciprocal relationship with the moana.
You will be leading work within the Aquaculture Settlement space, working to advance iwi interests as provided for through the Māori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004. You will provide robust advice to enable iwi aspirations and contribute to removing obstacles in relation to these. This will involve working alongside Iwi Aquaculture Organisations, as well as the Settlement team at the Ministry for Primary Industries.
You will have the ability to think critically, analyse policies and legislation, identify impacts, and act as a connector for our people. You will lead, coordinate, and contribute to this broader work program including responses to Government.
Part of your role will be in mentoring analysts in the team and providing them with opportunities to learn and develop in a supportive environment. You will be willing and able to travel across the motu to engage and work with iwi and hapū.
